The National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka established under the Intellectual Property Act No 36 of 2003 is mandated with the administration of the intellectual Property System in Sri Lanka. It was first established on January 1, 1982 with the same mandate under the provisions of Code of intellectual property Act no 52 of 1979.

Internal Affairs Unit (IAU)

Internal Affairs Unit of the National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka (NIPO)

The National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka (NIPO) has established an Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) in accordance with the New Procedure for Establishing Internal Affairs Units in All Public Institutions, jointly introduced by the Presidential Secretariat of Sri Lanka and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) under the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 09 of 2023.

The Internal Affairs Unit serves as an independent mechanism to promote integrity, accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct within NIPO while supporting the prevention and detection of corruption, bribery, fraud, abuse of authority, and other irregularities.

Report Corruption or Misconduct

If you become aware of any incident involving bribery, corruption, fraud, malpractice, abuse of power, misconduct, or any other irregularity within the National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka, you may submit your information or complaint to the Internal Affairs Unit. Complaints may be made confidentially, either anonymously or by providing your identity.
